Many state boards require that your credentials be evaluated by a service to
determine if your education meets their requirements. If your objective is to obtain the CPA designation and you are not
interested in practicing in a particular state, you should consider the
following when determining where to sit for the CPA Exam:
- Verify that there is no residency requirement.
- Look for a state that has not enacted the 150-hour requirement.
- Look for a state that offers a CPA certificate separate from its license
to practice.
- Look for a state where CPE requirements apply only to the license to
practice.
