I have been using the Gleim software since 2003 when I first received my private pilot license for airplanes as a sophomore in high school. I have been able, with the help of the Gleim software and publications, to successfully add my instrument-airplane, commercial-airplane, multi-engine-airplane, certified flight instructor, instrument instructor, multi-engine instructor, aircraft dispatcher, and most recently my advanced ground instructor ratings. I am currently using Gleim to study for my instrument ground instructor, airframe and powerplant mechanic ratings, and airline transport pilot rating. I always look forward to using Gleim software due to its ease of use, ability to study exactly what areas of knowledge I wish to focus on, and also the ability to print off my own tests and exams. It would be a key tool for any flight instructor to use with their students and any aviation training organization to use alongside their curriculum. In my current training, the institution uses the competitors' study guides and I have chosen to use my own funds to purchase the Gleim study guides as they are assembled in a much more user friendly manner. I would highly recommend the Gleim products to anyone studying within the aviation industry.

I used a different company's practice tests for my general and airframe rating, but they only offered the test alone. This program offers study guides and audio/visual representations which I had to hunt for online when using the other ground school. What to Expect in a Study Unit
  • Each of the study units in the Gleim AMT Test Prep Online is divided into four sections referred to as Instructional Elements.
    • a Knowledge Transfer Outline

    • a Multiple-Choice Study Quiz
    • a Multiple-Choice Test Quiz
  • To assist you in your studies, there are two additional Instructional Elements in the course:
    • Stage Test
    • End-of-Course Test
  • The questions presented in the Gleim study unit quizzes are similar to questions combined in the FAA question database in order to prepare you thoroughly for your FAA knowledge test.
  • You will see all study unit questions twice. The test quiz randomizes the questions and answer choices you saw during the study quiz.
  • After each quiz/test, you will be provided with an opportunity to review the questions that you missed in the form of a Review Quiz.
  • Your scores on the study quiz and test quiz will be averaged together to determine your final score for each study unit.

Duration

Access to the Aviation Maintenance Technician Course will expire 24 months from the date of purchase. If you have not completed the course and you need access after the expiration date, you may purchase a 24 month extension at half the current purchase price. You will have 30 days to purchase an extension.

How to Get Wings Credit for This Course

Gleim uploads Wings course completion credit every week for current course users. If you have completed this course but have not received Wings credit, follow the instructions below to ensure you are credited for your work.
  1. Go to http://www.faasafety.gov.
  2. Log in with your FAASafety email address and password.
    • If you have not created an account with FAASafety, you will need to do that first.
  3. Under the "Courses, Seminars & Activities" tab at the top of the page, click "Find Activities."
  4. Type "Gleim" into the "Keywords" box and click "Search."
  5. Find the appropriate course title in the resulting list.
  6. Click the "Request Credit" link for the appropriate course.
  7. Enter the date on your completion/graduation certificate into the "Date Completed" box.
  8. In the "Select Validator" section, click the "Email" tab.
  9. Type "wings@gleim.com" into the field and click the "Select" button.
  10. Click "Submit for Validation."
An email notification will be sent to Gleim. We will review your course records and either validate your credit or reply explaining why we are unable to do so (for example, the course completion date is incorrect). How to Complete a Study Unit

  1. Study the knowledge transfer outline for the study unit. The outlines are broken down into sections called "subunits" to make studying easier. We recommend you print the entire outline to study from and keep as a reference. When you have finished studying the outlines, you will be ready to view the Audiovisual Presentation.
  2. View the Audiovisual Presentation for the study unit. When you have finished studying the outlines, you will be ready to take the multiple-choice quizzes.
  3. Answer all of the thought-provoking multiple-choice study questions. All known FAA questions relating to the study unit title will be presented to you. You must answer all questions in order to continue. After selecting your answer choice, you will receive immediate feedback explaining why your answer was either correct or incorrect. Your grade on the study quiz is based on the first answer you select for each question.
  4. Review the answers you missed. After completing the study quiz, you will be prompted to review the questions you missed on the quiz. Analyze and understand why you missed the questions you did. If you did not score at least 70% on the quiz, you will need to retake the study quiz.
  5. Pass the multiple-choice test quiz. You will be given a test quiz based on the material you covered in the study quiz and outline sections of the study unit. All questions from the study quiz are presented in random order on the test quiz. You may move back and forth between questions and change your answers until you are ready to grade the test quiz. When you have answered each of the multiple-choice questions to your satisfaction, click the Grade button.
  6. Review the answers you missed. After completing the test quiz, you will be given a review of the questions you missed. Analyze and understand why you missed the questions you did. If you did not score at least 70% on the test quiz, you will need to retake the test quiz.

Completing the Stage Tests

  1. After every 4-6 study units, a Stage Test will be given.
  2. The Stage Test will be made up of questions from each of the preceding study units.
  3. You will be required to score 70% or greater on the Stage Test before being able to move on to the next study unit.

Completing the End-of-Course Test

  1. After you have completed all study units and Stage Tests for your Test Prep Online, you will be administered a cumulative End-of-Course test.
  2. You will be required to pass this test with a score of 70% or higher.
  3. You will have two chances to pass the End-of-Course test. If you fail more than twice, you will be locked out of the course, and you will be required to send an email to Gleim Publications explaining the situation. It will then be at the discretion of Gleim whether you may continue the course or not.

How to Complete the Course

  1. Complete all study units of the Gleim Test Prep Online in your chosen rating.
  2. Complete all Stage Tests.
  3. Complete the End-of-Course test.
  4. Print out the course completion certificate to prove you have mastered the material and are ready for the knowledge test.
