I would like to take this opportunity to say your online ground school was the best preparation for the FAA test I have seen on the market. I liked all the repetition, the study mode, and stage tests, and the large question database (other products have a much more limited database). I also purchased a hardcopy of your Sport Pilot Manuevers and I think the combination of the two is the best organized, most comprehensive, and well thought out reference I have seen. At first, I loved all the DVD’s out there and shunned the "plainness" of the Gleim resources, but now I really appreciate that simplicity! You get right down to business in the most efficient way possible. I have learned that I can really trust that Gleim has got all the regs and knowledge covered!

I took the instrument written test last Friday and received a high passing score. I am very pleased with the Gleim program and highly recommend it to aspiring pilots.

I wish to state that using the Gleim Online Ground School was an excellent, although lengthy, process to study and pass the FIA written. I passed with an 84. Looking at the big picture, the OGS is an excellent way to structure learning the material and answering the FAA test questions. I will be recommending the Gleim OGS to anyone I know looking to study and take an FAA written exam. I will be using the OGS to study and take the ATP written in the next two years. High compliments to your company and their transfer of knowledge systems.
- Scott Dineen

To all the aspiring pilots looking at a private pilot training course. This course is tough, but when you finish you will have the confidence and knowledge to pass the written. Good luck and smooth flight.

I recently used the Gleim Online Ground School to prepare for the Instrument Knowledge Exam. The Instrument written exam is an order of magnitude more complicated than the Private Pilot written exam, and I am extremely happy that my school recommended Gleim. I believe Gleim Online provides the best training for the most reasonable price. Using only the Gleim Online course and the Gleim Instrument test book, I passed the FAA written exam today on the first attempt with a score of 93%.
- Dale Young, Private Pilot (Airplane) and Instrument Student

February, 2013
I passed the knowledge test 27 days after beginning the Online Ground School with Gleim. The way the course is set up, it is hard to imagine how someone who completes the OGS could fail the knowledge test.
- Michael D.

The materials and program were laid out extremely well. Dividing the program into units and stages was extremely beneficial to me. My job requires me to work between 60-70 hrs per week, being able to start and stop at my convenience was great. Practice tests at the end of the program helped tremendously. I passed today with a 98. Your program was incredible. If anything I felt over prepared! Thank you for everything.
- Chris Denault

I actually have enjoyed my interaction with the Canadian Commercial Conversion Course and have found it extremely friendly and effective. I will recommend it to anyone whom I know that can use it as well as the other Gleim products in existence. Your approach to learning what needs to be learned as well as the presentation of your web based protocols is leading edge. Thank you.
- Dave Richter

I just wanted to let you know that I passed the FAA Ground School exam today with a 93% on my first try. I am elated. Your online course coupled with the superlative customer support made the difference. I thank you for being there for me, for your knowledge, courtesy and sincere encouragement. Well done guys.
- Bruce Nelson

I had bought also the GLEIM ATP book. I took the test and passed it with 92. The book and the computer training is fantastic. All the material that I was asked in the test was in the book and the computer prep. Thanks a million. It is simply excellent.

The Gleim On-Line Ground School for Sport Pilot gave me the necessary background information and complete understanding to be able to pass the FAA Knowledge test easily - 90% score. Thank you for this well-designed course. The outlines and videos for each of the 14 study units were essential in my opinion to be able to keep the amount of information you need to learn in an organized and concise format. I highly recommend this course to everyone!
- Tom

What is FAA Part 141 Approval?

Under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 141 deals with pilot schools. These schools are specifically approved by the FAA to teach certain courses in a structured and organized way. The purpose of Part 141 is to ensure the highest level of student training possible.

Gleim sought FAA approval for our Online Ground School course as a means of satisfying the ground school requirement of Part 141 for each pilot certificate and rating. Detailed course materials were submitted to the FAA and approved. For more information, see the Gleim FAA Approval Letter and the Gleim Air Agency Certificate.

The Gleim Online Ground School is now overseen directly by the FAA. We are required to provide the FAA with detailed information concerning student success as a result of having taken this course. Our ability to continue to operate as an FAA-approved ground school provider is contingent upon our maintaining the highest quality of instruction possible. This has been the Gleim commitment for more than 30 years, and our recent FAA approval only further encourages us to thoroughly prepare our customers with the knowledge they will need to confidently pass the FAA knowledge test and operate safely as pilots.

How to Purchase Part 141 Online Ground School

OPTION 1
  1. You must be enrolled in a Part 141 flight school that accepts Gleim Part 141 Online Ground School as part of its Training Course Outline.
To learn if your school participates in the course of training you are seeking, see our list of Gleim-Partnered Part 141 Flight Schools.
  2. Purchase or otherwise receive an activation code from your flight school and visit the login page to enter your code and begin your study.
OPTION 2
  1. You may train directly through Gleim if you agree to certain stipulations and complete an entrance interview before beginning the course. You must agree to:
    1. Participate in an exit interview after you complete the course before you are provided with an endorsement to take the knowledge test.
    2. Provide Gleim with acceptable proof of your score on the knowledge test.
  2. After you agree to the terms of the course, you may purchase it. You will electronically sign each agreement before beginning the Part 141 Ground School.

What to Expect in a Study Unit

  1. Each study unit in Gleim Part 141 Online Ground School is divided into several sections referred to as Instructional Elements.
  2. To assist you in your studies, there are four Instructional Elements in each study unit:
    1. Audiovisual Presentation (optional)
    2. Knowledge Transfer Outline
    3. Multiple-Choice Study Quiz
    4. Multiple-Choice Test
  3. After each quiz, you will be provided with an opportunity to review the questions that you missed. You will need to choose the correct answer to each missed question in each quiz before you can move on in the course.
  4. Your scores on the study quiz and final test will be averaged together to determine your final score for each study unit.

How to complete a study unit

To complete a study unit you must:

  1. Study the knowledge transfer outline for the study unit. The outlines are broken down into sections called "subunits" to make studying easier. We recommend you print the entire outline to study from and keep as reference. Use this printout for quick reference. When you have finished studying the outlines, you will be ready to take the multiple-choice quizzes.
  2. Answer all of the thought-provoking multiple-choice study questions. You must answer all questions in order to continue. After selecting your answer choice, you will receive immediate feedback explaining why your answer was either correct or incorrect. Your grade on the study quiz is based on the first answer you select for each question.
  3. Review the questions you missed. After completing the study quiz, you will be prompted to review the questions you missed on the quiz. Analyze and understand why you missed the questions you did. If you did not successfully pass the quiz, you will need to retake the study quiz.
  4. Pass the multiple-choice test. You will be given a test based on the material you covered in the study quiz and outline sections of the study unit. You may move back and forth between questions and change your answers until you are ready to grade the test. When you have answered each of the multiple-choice questions to your satisfaction, click the Grade button.
  5. Review the questions you missed. After completing the test, you will be given a review of the questions you missed. Analyze and understand why you missed the questions you did. If you did not pass, you will need to retake the test.

Note: It may take a few minutes for your grade to be delivered. Do not click the Grade button more than once. Also, do not hit the back button on your browser to try to return to the quiz after it has been graded. Please email us through our Online Support Email Form if you have problems.

Completing the Stage Tests

  1. After every 4-6 study units, a stage test will be given.
  2. The stage test will be made up of questions from each of the preceding study units.
  3. You will be required to pass the stage test with a minimum score of 80% before you are allowed to move on to the next study unit.

Completing the End-of-Course Test

  1. After you have completed all study units and stage tests for your Part 141 Online Ground School, you will be administered a cumulative end-of-course test.
  2. You will be required to pass this test with a minimum score of 80%.
  3. You will have two chances to pass the end-of-course test. If you fail twice, you will be locked out of the course and you will be required to send an e-mail to the Chief Instructor explaining the situation. It will then be at the discretion of Gleim whether you may continue the course or not.

How to complete the course

  1. Complete all study units of Gleim Part 141 Online Ground School.
  2. Complete all stage tests.
  3. Complete the end-of-course test.
  4. Complete an exit interview (only if training directly through Gleim).
  5. Print out the FAA Knowledge Test sign-off form and graduation certificate.
  6. Take your knowledge test within 60 days after completing the course and then submit your FAA Knowledge Test Report to Gleim in an approved manner within 10 days of taking your knowledge test.
