Question: If I pass the final part of the CIA exam next week can I immediately as of that date use the CIA designation or do I have to wait 3 months for my CIA certificate (which will be sent to my local IIA chapter)? Or, do I only have to wait for my official result to be posted on the CCMS profile to begin using the CIA designation?
Answer: According to The IIA, you may begin using the CIA designation once you receive your email confirming that you have fulfilled your requirements and have completed the certification. If you log into your CCMS profile and look under the certification progress screen, and see your certificate number then you may at that time begin using the CIA designation after your name.
