Can you clarify how the CIA’s scoring system works?

Statistical information from pre-tested questions is used to maintain comparable difficulty from one CIA exam to the next. Because the exact number of questions required to pass the exam may only differ from one exam date to another, the IIA converts the raw scores into a reporting scale of 250 to 750 points. This scale ensures a common standard. A candidate must achieve a scaled score of 600 points or higher to pass the CIA exam. This score is equivalent to answering 75 percent correct on an exam of appropriate difficulty.
