Garrett Gleim sends CPA candidates bimonthly emails concerning different aspects of the CPA exam. Candidates can see the most recent email and all the archives here on the CPA Candidate Forum.
The AICPA Examinations Team recently emailed me about an opportunity that I believe will be of interest to you.
The AICPA is looking for 500 people to volunteer to answer 100 sample multiple-choice questions relating to the BEC section of the CPA Exam. This special field-testing event is part of the Team’s study on item-development process improvements. Volunteers will be asked to answer the 100 questions in about three hours. The test can be done at home, using a computer that has Internet access and meets the minimum system requirements needed to access the CPA Sample Test. To see if you may be eligible, see the complete list of requirements on the AICPA’s website.
If you choose to volunteer, please note that your responses will not be scored, but that you will benefit by receiving a performance report. Additionally, the AICPA has stated that the questions are not true CPA Exam questions and never will be. However, they have also mentioned that the questions are similar to real test questions, and that the feedback provided on the performance reports will be genuine.
If you are interested in participating in this event, you must first take this survey, which will help the Examinations Team determine eligibility for the study and ensure the population of participants is a diverse set of potential testers. You must complete the survey before the end of May to be eligible. The AICPA indicated that they will send you an email with a link to a specific test form some time in the month of May if you are selected to be a participant. You will then be able to take the test during a specified time period in June 2011. As a CPA candidate, you should take advantage of any opportunity to practice answering CPA-type questions in an exam setting. For this reason and because I believe it will help improve the CPA exam for everyone, I highly recommend that you participate in this important event.
