CPA Hot Topics 09/06/11 – Summer Break

Garrett Gleim sends CPA candidates bimonthly emails concerning different aspects of the CPA exam. Candidates can see the most recent email and all the archives here on the CPA Candidate Forum.

I hope everyone has had a great summer.

Many of you may have been lucky enough to get some time off. As you may know, it is often hard to get back to work once you have been away for an extended period of time. You’re never as efficient when you return as you were before your vacation. The reason I bring this up is because this scenario is no different than a CPA candidate taking breaks between sections of the exam.

Just because September is a non-testing month does not mean you should take weeks off from studying. While I understand that taking a break or vacation is important to give you the energy to work hard again, it’s actually wiser to muscle through the entire four sections of the CPA exam without a significant break. I always suggest taking a few practice quizzes each week just to keep your mind fresh on answering questions. In addition, you should always review any questions you miss, which will keep you in the habit of studying and learning.

We are currently working hard to produce the most effective CPA materials for the 2012 year. Our goal is to ensure that our 2012 CPA products will be up-to-date and ready to distribute in mid-November. We are always striving to improve our products with each new edition. This year, for example, we are specifically focusing on adding more value to our outlines and simulations.

Also, please note that we take all of our customer suggestions to heart. I have seen some great and creative suggestions on how to improve the Gleim CPA Review System. If you ever have any suggestions or feedback on Gleim products, please feel free to share them with us. And, while we welcome your suggestions on how to improve our products, I hope you will take my suggestions on how to improve your study habits. Proper study and preparation are the keys to success on the CPA exam.
