This weeks forum is regarding the renewal of your EA Status.
EAs with Social Security numbers ending in 4, 5, or 6 should have mailed in Form 8554 (Application for Renewal of Enrollment to Practice Before the Internal Revenue Service) by January 31, 2008. OPR has mailed all the new enrollment cards to those EAs who submitted their paperwork in a timely manner. If you were timely and haven’t received your card, please email them at governmentrelations@naea.org. OPR is placing EAs who have not renewed on inactive status. An EA on inactive status may not practice before the IRS, nor may he or she hold himself or herself out to be an enrolled agent.
