Garrett Gleim sends CPA candidates bimonthly emails concerning different aspects of the CPA exam. Candidates can see the most recent email and all the archives here on the CPA Candidate Forum.
Preparing for the CPA exam is a lot like a football team preparing for a game. The athletes practice plays much like you should practice answering multiple-choice questions and test-taking techniques. However, teams also need to educate themselves about their opponents. Similarly, you should view the CPA Exam as an opponent you are trying to defeat. It is imperative that you are well prepared and understand the topics and concepts, but you also need to know what to expect from the exam itself.
If you are taking any section of the exam in 2011, you need to be prepared for the changes that are going into effect January 1. These changes are being referred to as CBT-e, and they will affect the structure, content, and simulations on the CPA exam. To help you conquer the new CPA exam, Gleim has created the CBT-e Tutorial.
We have been working hard on developing new practice task-based simulations for 2011. There will be three unique task-based simulations in each of our study units: one in the review book, one in the CPA Gleim Online course, and one in the Simulation Wizard. We have designed coverage for each section of the CPA exam in 20 study units. This means that candidates with our complete system will have access to 240 unique simulations! Since passing the CPA exam takes practice, candidates using the Gleim system will be well prepared.
In addition, please keep in mind that October-November window is the last opportunity for candidates to take a section (or sections) of the 2010 CPA exam. With so many changes expected for 2011, it would behoove you to take at least one section of the exam during the upcoming window. Please make every effort to schedule a section to take advantage of this opportunity, as the current CBT exam will no longer be offered after Nov. 30, 2010.
The new CBT-e exam will be offered beginning Jan. 1, 2011.
