Garrett Gleim sends CPA candidates informative emails concerning different aspects of the CPA exam. Candidates can see the most recent email and all the archives here on the CPA Candidate Forum.
I hope you enjoyed your holidays and you’re off to a good start for 2014 with the new edition of CPA. If you are sitting for an exam section this quarter, please be aware of any Prometric test center closings due to winter storms. Remember that you can visit the Prometric website to check on your local test center every day, so don’t let the possibility of a closing distract you or cause you stress. As with any other possible testing issue, simply be prepared and confident. It is possible that the testing window will be extended, but we haven’t received any information yet. We will keep an eye on NASBA’s announcements (nasba.org/news) and let you know if we hear anything.
In last month’s Hot Topics email, I mentioned the release of our Gleim Instruct video series for CPA FAR. If you haven’t had the chance to discover this new component to our review system, here are some of the details. The videos feature Dr. Passard Dean from Saint Leo University, who breaks down for you the core concepts of each Study Unit and walks you through some multiple-choice questions, teaching you how to read carefully for the exam and how to narrow down your answer choices. So in addition to all the Gleim Review components you’re already familiar with, you have about 30 hours worth of video review taught by an actual professor.
These videos are an invaluable study tool, and I hope you’ll take advantage of it as many candidates already have. We’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback so far, especially praising Dr. Dean’s teaching style and ability to grab your attention, as well as the in-depth discussion of how to approach various types of multiple-choice questions on the exam. Gleim Instruct for CPA FAR is in beta release right now as we review feedback and ensure that any kinks are ironed out, and we’re working on bringing you videos for the other CPA sections as soon as possible!
Wherever you are in your study plan, I encourage you to incorporate the new Gleim Study Planner, which works with Gleim Online to keep you on track and highlight any weak areas discovered in your course work. It will help you work through your review by setting deadlines for completing study units, so you’ll be ready to get each exam section behind you as soon as possible. If you do not have a study schedule yet, our Personal Counselors look forward to helping you set one up.
