Learning About Weather-Related CPA Exam Site Closures
Whether it be rain, hail, lightning, ice, or snow, weather that endangers lives and thwarts travel can force Prometric testing centers to close and render all of the day’s appointments canceled. In the event that any appointments are canceled, Prometric’s Outbound Team will contact all affected candidates. The team will email you within 24 hours of your testing center’s closure. Therefore, you can count on them to notify you if your appointment has become a victim of hostile weather.
If you have not yet received an email but are suspicious that a foreboding forecast will affect your testing appointment, you can check the status of your test center by visiting the Site Closure page on Prometric’s website. This page lists all of the testing centers that will be closed and when, so you can use it to stay up to date on your testing center’s situation. When applicable, the list features several days’ worth of closures and always includes the test center ID. The Outbound Team will get in touch with you as soon as they can, but if you have not been contacted within 24 hours of your appointment and your testing center does appear on the closure list, you should email Prometric directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rescheduling Appointments After Weather-Related CPA Exam Site Closures
If your test center is closed due to weather, you will be able to reschedule your appointment within the time remaining on your Notice to Schedule (NTS). Making Appointments in the Absence of Weather-Related CPA Exam Site Closures
If inhospitable weather has not coerced your testing center to close, then you must try to make your appointment so long as your own safety and well-being are not imperiled in the process. However, if safety concerns, travel issues, outages, etc. do prevent you from keeping your appointment, you must contact NASBA by emailing the Candidate Care Department. Include the following information in your email:
- Your name as it appears on your NTS
- The name of the section and the section ID number printed on the NTS
- Your appointment date
- The test center location
- A detailed outline of the circumstances that prevented you from attending your appointment
- Documentation of the weather conditions in the affected area (a weather report or a travel advisory)
- The current NTS expiration date
Again, if you provide the Candidate Care Department with these details, they will work with you to reschedule your appointment.
