Week 5: Working with CIA Exam Support

Meeting My Personal Counselor

After passing Part 1 of the CIA exam, I must give credit not only to the Gleim material but also to the Personal Counselors at Gleim. Although I didn’t really interact with my counselor until a week before my exam, it was extremely helpful to have someone I could reach out to regarding the exam.

Getting Encouragement

The Gleim Personal Counselor is like a personal cheerleader. I loved how when I was falling behind in my studying or did poorly on a study unit, my counselor would always send me an encouraging email. The email always included the next steps on how to overcome the obstacle. I never felt like my counselor was reading from or writing a generic email—all of our interactions were personal. She did an excellent job of listening to my concerns and needs.

Receiving Feedback

My counselor also was very honest and provided excellent feedback. When I had questions on how I should focus my last couple of days before the exam, she made a personalized study plan for me. I truly believe that the study plan helped me succeed on the exam.

Taking Tips

When my exam was only days away, like anyone prepping for a test, I was extremely nervous and anxious; my counselor reassured me that I would do fine. The night before the exam, I received an email that gave me study tips for my exam. The tips included relaxing and making sure to print out my test authorization form. All of the information provided in the final email from my counselor was very thoughtful and very helpful. If I could go back and make an adjustment to my study habits for the CIA Part 1 exam, I would have utilized my Personal Counselor more.

Utilizing Resources

Although I didn’t use my counselor as much as I would have liked, lucky for me, I still have two more parts of the CIA exam to complete. When studying for Parts 2 3, I plan to utilize the resources and knowledge provided by my Personal Counselor. I’m confident that if I continue to use the Gleim system, I should have no problems passing the remaining parts. The counselors are definitely what makes Gleim stand out as one of the best study resources.
