Normally, this section offers successful study tips to ensure that you pass the CIA exam on your first attempt. This week, we continue a series in which we point out some poor study habits that you should avoid picking up from start to finish.

This is the eighth in our series of bad habits to avoid. Click here to see bad habit #7.

The Commute

Explanation:Many people enjoy using their ride to work or school as a chance to study with the Gleim CIA Review books or Audio CDs. This unconventional study time is perfect for light reading or listening, but not necessarily for intense studying.

Fix: Use your commute to review material from previous study sessions. Only use this time to learn new information if you plan on looking over the same material immediately after your commute. The Gleim Audio CDs are designed to make use of these non-traditional study times. We include only the kind of information that is useful — and usable — when listening.
