How Good is Good Enough?
An issue facing all CPA candidates is how well they need to perform to pass the CPA exam. We recommend that you develop your proficiency so that you are scoring a minimum of 75% on the multiple-choice quizzes for each study unit. You may wish to establish a personal goal somewhat higher or lower, depending on your background and knowledge of the topic. Your personal standards also may vary by exam section. Identify your goals and stay on track until they are achieved. When you take the exam, do your best on every question within the time budgeted. Remember that the exam is curved to an overall pass rate of about 45% on each section. Thus, it is imperative that you do your best on each section of the exam and on every question in each section.
